Karuna Mandala are Tony and Joanne from Clitheroe, in the North of England.

"Music has always flowed through us and been an essential part of our lives, providing inspiration and help during good times and bad!"

For the last twenty five years, Tony has played with the popular Lancashire band, The Backbeats. Joanne has sung with various Folk Bands and currently sings with the Grand Choir in Clitheroe.

Two years ago, Tony was asked by Jaydev John Richardson to play guitar at one of his Kirtan evenings! Jaydev, formerly of the pop band 'The Rubettes', has devoted his later life, following The Rubettes to playing 'Indian influenced' spiritual music. Later that year, both Joanne and Tony joined the 'Spiritual Sounds' band from Scotland in a one off gig in Preston.

Both these concerts made a huge impression on Tony and Joanne and they decided it would be a genre of music that they would like to explore further.

In addition to the music, was the spiritual dimension that is greatly lacking in today's culture. And they are also inspired by several people who are working tirelessly on various social projects, with the aim of improving the lives of the disadvantaged and generally, 'making the world a better place'!

Karuna Mandala will support and promote these projects.

A good friend, Amit Chauhan, a virtuoso Tabla player joined them on the recording of their first album, 'Perfect Love in an imperfect World'. He joins them for live appearances, whenever his busy schedule permits!
